MAUI MATSURI
Young and old alike will delight in this year's offerings of art, entertainment, contests, crafts and food. Festivities will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. at University of Hawaii - Maui College, where Matsuri organizers will transform the grassy knolls of the campus into a bunkamura (Japanese village). PORTUGUESE FESTA
The Maui Portuguese Cultural Club will celebrate the completion of repairs done to the Kepaniwai Park, Portuguese Heritage Garden in Iao Valley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a Portuguese Festa. Beginning the celebration, there will be a Coronation of Mary by children. A fashion show of traditional regional costumes will be presented. There will be Portuguese song and dance exhibitions as well as a display of Portuguese artifacts and exports. There will be food, country store, stone bread, and homemade crafts for sale. All proceeds and donations will help defer the cost of repairs. The public is invited to attend the free event. Portuguese lunch consisting of soup/roll/ azores, and iced tea is available by ticket sale, only, for $5 to $7 and is being sold by members. For more information call 385-2410.

The annual 5 mile walk that starts and finishes at Maui War Memorial Park Soccer Field begins at 7 a.m., with registration from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Everyone can collect pledges and walk.
