National Nursing Home Week, which begins on Mother's Day - May 13 - and ends May 19, is a special week to celebrate the journey of residents and honor them with a shower of community support.
This year's theme of "Celebrating the Journey" reminds us that every life should be honored, every life's story needs to be told and that every day we have the chance to begin writing a new chapter. Whether the day is filled with comedy or drama, nursing home residents and their care partners are co-authors and leading characters in each other's life story. The journey is about living life to the fullest, irrespective of age, infirmity or disability.
Many nursing homes, including Hale Makua, will be hosting special events celebrating our residents and those that care for them.
If you are unable to visit, please make a phone call, send a greeting card, flowers or even an email. This special attention will make someone's day.
