Technology has changed communication

May 16, 2012
The Maui News

Have you ever wondered what happened to the old-fashioned way of communication - when teens used to just talk to one another? Now days, all teens do is text or instant message. Face-to-face conversations are a thing of the past. Gaming is keeping teens and young adults from getting exercise and hanging out with friends.

Over the years, technology has evolved from being huge machines to sleek compact devices that can do more than you could imagine. More and more types of online communication are being created and used by teens and young adults.

In some ways it's a good thing, for instance, teens with family or friends who live somewhere else. But it's not always good. Most teens would rather be on their playing Black Ops or chatting to someone they just met than playing sports or spending time with their family. Facebook has become the new Bible - teens live by it. Some cannot go one hour without updating their status and changing their profile picture.

Technology is taking over this generation's lives.
