OLINDA - Seabury Hall's Dakota Grossman, a state champion in cross country and two track and field events, and a member of the girls basketball team, as well as Renny Richmond, a qualifier for the U.S. Olympic trials in swimming, and Shane Jacob and Rocky DeLyon, who both played volleyball and basketball, were named the school's athletes of the year during an awards assembly Wednesday.
Justine Malek and Travis Taylor were named scholar-athletes of the year.
Spartan Awards went to DeLyon (boys volleyball), Jacob (boys basketball), Grossman (girls track and field), Gracie Peck (girls cross country), Devin Vinoray (boys cross country and track and field), Ryder Weymouth (football), Ashley Cooper (girls volleyball), Amanda Perriera (girls soccer), Willy Harris (boys soccer), Kaulu Lu'uwai (girls paddling), Tiana Camarillo and Ali Rudow (girls basketball), Alex Chapple (boys paddling), Kalei Hendershot (baseball), Megan Kirton (softball), Levi Pells (boys tennis), Christy Haines (girls tennis), Tristan Loesberg (boys swimming), Angelina Demirbag (girls swimming) and Alex Chiarella (boys golf).
Coaches awards went to Vinoray, Peck, Haines, Perriera, Chapple, Loesberg, Chiarella, Harris, Demirbag, Hendershot, Lyssa Nishikawa, Ali Hoeck, Dylan Ross, Taylor Hori, Jared Shimada and Sage Trudeau.
Rudow, Grossman, Haines, Hori, Peck, Ross, Shimada, Taylor, Vinoray, Malek, Camarillo, Weymouth, Perriera, Alyssa Bettendorf, Lena Fox, Roxane Gaedeke, Nic Colon, Ryan Koss, Jacob Higa, Alden Simmer, Elle Carvalho, Mogul Lu'uwai, Izzy Jones, Kaleb Palmer, Carissa Ratte, Michael Clarion, Travis Mrantz and Nyk Yashiro received Super S Awards for lettering in three sports this academic year.
Athletes who lettered in a sport four times were also recognized - they were Cooper, Hoeck, DeLyon and Brooke Studevant (volleyball); Perriera, Hori, Nishikawa, Harris and Nicolai Whiticar (soccer); Demirbag, Taylor and Alex Armstrong (swimming); Anna Rogers and Megan O'Malley (basketball); Chiarella (golf); Hendershot, Brendan Crowe, Keoni Grundhauser and Zoe Chotzen Tsurada (baseball); Kirton, Hori, Nishikawa and Jessica Hartley (softball); Peck and Malek (track and field); and Haines, Tara McBarnet, Sean Jensen, Buzz Stoner and Brendan Wilson (tennis).
