Four earn Campbell Scholarships

PAIA - Four youths were awarded $1,250 scholarships from the Pa'ia Youth & Cultural Center's Campbell Scholarship Fund.

The scholarships are available to members of the youth center who are high school seniors, have a GED or high school equivalency diploma or are in their first year of community college. Each candidate has to submit an application letter and is personally interviewed.

Haygood

*?Angela "Angie" Haygood, who is in her first year at the University of Hawaii Maui College. She has been a youth center member since she was 9 years old and is considering a career in social work or education.

*?Reece Pottorff, who will be attending the School of Film and Video at California Institute of the Arts. He has been a member of the youth center's Hekili Multimedia Lab for many years, where he has produced films and mentored other youths. He also has done videos for the Pa'ia Merchants Association and the youth center.

*?Anna Higa, who is a multiyear scholarship awardee and was a member of the youth center during her teen years. Two years ago, she was hired as a part-time program specialist for the youth center's Malama Pono Project Venture Program. She has since moved to Oahu and is currently attending Windward Community College. She plans on getting her degree in business.

*?Tracy McAdams, who is a multiyear scholarship awardee. She attends the UH-Maui College nursing program.
