Werner A. Kraensel, 74, of Makawao, passed away on May 17, 2012 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1938 in Breslau, Germany.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Makawao, service 11 a.m., burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
Werner escaped from East Germany in 1952 and immigrated to Canada in 1958. He came to America in 1960 and became a United States citizen in 1964.
Werner is survived by his wife, SallyAnn Kraensel; daughters, Denise Kraensel, Heidi (Steve) Puls, Mitzi (Joey) Toro; hanai-daughter, Alia (Micah) Escalante; brother, Willi Grosser; sister, Eva Basse; grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Acup, and Sophie Isabella Keiko Toro; and his parrot, Coco.
