Rainbow Wahine lose in NCAA elimination game

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Hawaii softball team's season ended with a 9-7 loss to North Dakota State on Saturday in an NCAA tournament regional elimination game.

The Rainbow Wahine squandered leads of 1-0, 4-1 and 6-5, hurt by three errors and four unearned runs.

Kayla Wartner hit a pair of two-run homers for UH (44-9), in the third and fourth innings. Sarah Robinson followed Wart-ner's homer in the third with one of her own. Makani Du-haylonsod was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Taylor Mortensen and Jenina Ortega homered for the Bison, who lost to Notre Dame later Saturday to finish 38-22.

Stephanie Rickets (28-6) took the loss.

North Dakota State's Krista Menke (25-12) pitched a complete game.
