PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (AP) - An American Samoa employee of the U.S. Postal Service is accused of using debit cards that arrived in the mail to make unauthorized cash withdrawals.
Lamala Lorraine Tufele works as a post office mail distribution clerk, mail sorter and customer service clerk. A court affidavit claims that she accessed mail containing two Bank of Hawaii debit cards and personal information of two bank customers and that her photo was captured at ATMs where she withdrew a total of $400.
Charged with two counts of stealing, she is being held on $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in court for a hearing next week.
Her attorney didn't immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.
