HONOLULU (AP) - State House Rep. Barbara Marumoto will not run for re-election and will retire after more than three decades in the Legislature.
The House Republican Caucus announced the Kalani Valley-Diamond Head lawmaker's decision in a news release Tuesday.
A redistricting plan adopted by the Hawaii Reapportionment Commission would have made Marumoto compete with a Democratic incumbent currently representing Hahaione Valley and Aina Haina in the next election.
Marumoto was first elected to the House in 1978.
