Wayne Watkins will be a featured performer for "Dream Big, READ!," the 2012 Hawaii State Public Library System Children's Summer Reading Program, at selected public Maui County libraries from June 5 to 30. Admission is free.

The program will be at 10 a.m. June 5 at Molokai Public Library; 10 a.m. June 26 at Hana Public & School Library; 10 a.m. June 27 at Wailuku Public Library; 10 a.m. June 28 at Makawao Public Library; 10:30 a.m. June 29 at Kihei Public Library; 11 a.m. June 30 at Lahaina Public Library; and 2:30 p.m. June 30 at Kahului Public Library.

Watkins, who currently serves as director of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Children's Center, is an early childhood educator and children's advocate. He and percussionist Pfahl will perform the "Sing Along with Uncle Wayne" program that features a variety of classic children's songs, as well as his original compositions.

Young readers will be encouraged to revel in the wonders of night - dreams, lullabies, bedtime and campfire stories, as well as ghosts, nocturnal animals, and star-gazing, according to a news release.

The 45-minute program is recommended for ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

If a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed, contact the hosting library at least three weeks in advance.

The schedule is subject to change. For more information, call the hosting library.
