WAILUKU -- A second suspect has been arrested in the investigation of a stolen car linked to a fatal shooting by a police officer in Kihei on Tuesday, police said.
The 28-year-old Wailuku man turned himself in to police at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday and was being held at the Wailuku Police Station as the investigation continued Wednesday, police said.
Police said the man had been with 31-year-old Marshall Langford, who was shot while in a stolen car in the parking lot of the Mana Kai Maui Resort.
Police said Langford allegedly pulled a handgun on the officer before being shot. Langford was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer, an 18-year police veteran, was placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
