High winds prompt advisory

May 28, 2012
The Maui News
A cloud of dust rises from a harvested Central Maui sugar cane field and is carried south Saturday on strong winds. The National Weather Service extended until 6 p.m. today a strong wind advisory for the Haleakala summit, including Haleakala National Park above 6,000 feet. The advisory means that park visitors can expect winds of 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph, which can make driving difficult.
