Loss of life doesn’t always make someone a victim

May 30, 2012
The Maui News

I take this on for no gain for myself, but just try to educate the general public's ridiculous ideas on law enforcement.

Cops are not trained to shoot out tires or wound people, or should they be. I can only guess these perceptions come from Hollywood movies and TV.

When a person pays the ultimate sacrifice for his life of crime, I'm sorry he doesn't miraculously become a victim. Reading the May 24 article for me adds up to this criminal's demise. It's a loss all around, but that's just my 10-plus years of criminal justice talking.

I have prayed for all involved.
