HONOMANU - A 12-year-old San Diego boy fell about 250 feet off a cliff and died in East Maui on Sunday, fire officials said.
Fire officials said the boy, who was found in the ocean below, could not be resuscitated.
Fire crews from Hana along with the Fire Department's Air One helicopter, the Kahului rescue crew and paramedics responded to the 10:42 a.m. call about the boy falling off a cliff on the east side of Honomanu Bay, which is near Keanae.
The personal watercraft from Hana with one rescuer launched from the bay and retrieved the boy from the ocean.
The boy and his family were visiting from California, fire officials said.
