Linda Lingle would be a voice of reason in Congress

June 5, 2012
The Maui News

I disagree with a May 20 letter writer who said it would be a mistake to elect any Republican to Congress because of the political gridlock the letter writer blames on the GOP.

I believe that by electing Linda Lingle there would be a voice of reason placed right in the midst of those who might not be bothering to learn the issues. I would argue that voting party lines is the cause for the gridlock.

Anyone who listens carefully to Lingle knows that she is articulate, intelligent and rational, and that her positions are well researched and thought out.

If the electorate really listened to the candidates, it would discover gems who really do care about the people of Hawaii. Lingle has proved she can and will work across party lines if it is for the good of Hawaii and its people.
