Rotary clubs of Maui are seeking several host families to provide housing and supervision for a male Rotary Youth Exchange student from Chiba, Japan.
Sixteen-year-old Kubota Tatsuki, will be sponsored by one or two of the nine Maui Rotary Clubs and is expected to arrive on Maui in August. Host families for this international youth exchange program typically host a student for 2 to 4 months.
The host families are not required to be rotary club members, however family members will require a background check. In addition, there will be an inspection of their home by a Rotary Youth Exchange Officer.
Tatsuki will have a rotarian counselor from the host club. He is expected to enroll in the same high school for the normal school year. He will have a small allowance from the host rotary club, but otherwise is to be supported by the host families.
Tatsuki has completed an extensive application packet in order to be accepted into the Rotary Youth Exchange program and he is sponsored by his local Rotary Club in Chiba, Japan.
For more information and to discuss hosting Tatsuki, contact Mark Harbison, SCANEX Country Coordinator for Japan, Korea and Indonesia at 874-1942 or via email at youthexchange@kiheiwailearotary.com.
