Maui students earn college degrees at Mainland schools

The following students with ties to Maui County have earned degrees at colleges and universities:

LOS ANGELES - Mariah J. Gill, a Lahainaluna High School alumna, has graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science from the University of Southern California.

She is the daughter of Damon and Margo Gill. Her major was in environmental studies, ocean, life and people. The graduate will be pursuing her master's degree at Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her focus will be water management.

Lahainaluna High School alumuna Mariah Gill earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Southern California.

The graduation took place on May 11 on the school's Los Angeles campus.

LINDSBORG, Kan. - Logan K.Y. Kanamu of Wailuku has graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Bethany College.

He was one of 98 students who received their bachelor's degrees on May 20.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Five students with Maui ties have earned their degrees from Pacific University during spring commencement.

Kelli Nakano of Pukalani earned her doctoral in physical therapy.

The other graduating students, their hometowns and their bachelor degree majors follow:

* Michelle Soga, Kahului, biological chemistry.

* Alexander Collias, Kihei, psychology.

* Kimberly Kunishige, Kihei, education and learning.
