Work to reroute air traffic
KAHULUI - There will be an increase in aircraft traffic in Central Maui from tonight through Sunday morning as maintenance work continues at Kahului Airport.
Residents in Kahului, Wailuku and Spreckelsville will be affected.
Work on runway 2-20 will be conducted from 11:30 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Saturday and again at 11:30 p.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Sunday.
Flight patterns will be modified resulting in the increased air traffic in Central Maui.
The work is part of a federally funded $1.14 million project encompassing a complete rewiring of the runway lights and taxiway lights circuits.
The taxiway lights will be changed to energy efficient lights. Completion is expected later this month.
