PEARL HARBOR (AP) - The Navy has identified the 32-year-old sailor who died after going overboard from a Hawaii-based ship.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Troy Hunter was pronounced dead Wednesday after a search-and-rescue swimmer pulled his body from the ocean.

Hunter was a culinary specialist from Pembroke Pines, Fla., who enlisted in the Navy in August 2008.

The crew of the USS Russell had responded to a report of a man overboard while conducting operations about 50 miles off the coast of Oahu.

Hunter was assigned to the Russell in January 2009.

An investigation is under way.
