Excellent care received at MMMC

June 10, 2012
The Maui News

My cardiac operation at Maui Memorial Medical Center and the care given by the intensive care unit, especially the nurses, was outstanding.

The operation I received was a double heart bypass that included the "hard stuff' such as opening up the sternum and replacing two of my major heart arteries with veins taken from my legs.

The outstanding work of Drs. Michael Dang and Tracy Dorheim and PA Michael Reising is worth shouting from the rooftops.

This seems like a very important piece of news since everyone I talk to on Maui still seems to think the only quality cardiac care in Hawaii is on Oahu. I believe care on Maui is now at least equivalent and maybe even better than Oahu. And the personal attention given by all the staff is much better than any I have experienced on the Mainland.

I would be remiss in my praise if I didn't include my cardiologist, Dr. Howard Barbarosh, and his staff who coordinated all this. They are great in every way.
