High school awards nominees sought

KAHULUI - The Maui High School Foundation is seeking nominations for its second annual Maui High School Hall of Honor Awards.

Nominations will be accepted until July 14 in the following five categories:

* Spirit of Maui Award: Awarded to an alumnus who has given back to the community and has made a difference within the community.

* Award of Excellence: Awarded to an alumnus who has excelled in his or her field or profession.

* Silversword Heritage Award: Awarded to an alumnus who is distinguished in life and work.

* Saber Spirit: Awarded to an individual or alumnus who is an unsung hero to the school.

* Inspiration Award: Awarded to a past or present faculty member, not necessarily an alumnus, who went above and beyond to make a difference to students.

Nomination forms may be completed online at www.mauihigh.org, or forms may be picked up at the school's main office and emailed to hallofhonor@mauihigh.org, faxed to 873-3010, or mailed to the school at MHSF Awards Committee, 660 S. Lono Ave., Kahului 96732.

The school said a public vote will be held between July 22 and 28, and the MHS Foundation Board of Directors will select winners from among three finalists in each award category.

Winners will be honored at the Hall of Honor Banquet on Oct. 18. Call 873-3091 for information.
