Tent camps to be offered in July

PAIA - Paipala Bible Church and Doris Todd Memorial Christian School are sponsoring two tent camps for students in July.

The first session will run from July 1 to 4 and is for those who have completed 2nd through 5th grades. The cost is $90.

The second session will be from July 5 to 8 and is for those who have completed grades 6 through 9. This session costs $65.

Both camps are overnight and will be held on the Doris Todd campus in Paia.

The cost includes a camp T-shirt, transportation, crafts, food and snacks. Other activities include Bible study, group Bible lessons, sports activities, hikes and swimming.

Sports and Arts Camps to be held

KULA - Waipuna Chapel is organizing the 2012 Sports and Arts Camp from 3 to 6:15 p.m. June 18 to 22 at the Kula fields below the Kula Fire Station.

The camp is for youths 6 to 12 years old.

Campers choose one option between soccer, flag football or cheerleading. At the Arts Camp, an Upcountry artist will work with students on an art project. Painting, sculpting, jewelry, photography and steel art will be offered.

Through sports and arts instruction, there will be Bible-based lessons, music and lots of high-energy fun.

The cost is $45 and includes a T-shirt.

Wailuku obon festival tonight

WAILUKU - The Wailuku Jodo Mission will be holding its obon festival tonight with services at 7 and dancing at 8.

The guest speaker at the service will be Bishop Gensho Hara.

There will be food and other concessions at the celebration to honor ancestors who have passed on.

The temple is located at 67 Central Ave.
