MAKAWAO - Four Seabury Hall 6th-graders placed among the top five in the statewide Star Poets competition - J.D. Pells, Caroline Slate, Sydney Walker and Kano Watanabe. Two additional Seabury Hall 6th-graders, Hunter Cella and Shelby Ferrier, received honorable mention.

The students recited their poems at an awards ceremony held May 27 at the Honolulu Theatre for Youth.

The Star Poets competition is a project of Windward Community College, the Hawai'i Council for the Humanities and the Hawai'i Writing Project. The contest draws thousands of entries from schools across the state each year.
