I recently paid to renew my vehicle tags - $188.16. Yes, it went up again from last year. They have county and state taxes on top of things.
Places I have lived on the Mainland (I have lived here for 12 years now) charge for tags by the weight and the year of the vehicle. On the Mainland, tags for my car would be $35. My family and friends on the Mainland who have big pickup trucks pay $50 a year; my friends here are paying $250 a year.
Where is all of this money going and why are we paying so much more? Someone needs to explain this one to me.
