Three-and-a-half million of our taxpayer dollars to promote Hawaii so the hotels can profit? I think we should just give the money directly from the county to the general managers of the big hotels. They can pocket the cash, and we don't have to waste time with the hotel association or visitors bureau.
No one asked the citizens of Maui when they built all those hotels about guaranteeing that the rooms would be full, so why do we have to pay now to advertise them?
No one pays for my company's advertising. The hotels should pay for their own ads, and they should pay the citizens of Maui for sharing our beaches and roads and having to listen to these loud and rude outsiders everywhere we go.
