PRINCETON, W.Va. - Branden Kaupe went hitless but scored a run for the Kingsport Mets in his professional baseball debut on Tuesday in an 8-4 loss to the Princeton Rays in an Appalachian League game.
Kaupe walked and scored in the eighth inning.
Batting leadoff and playing second base, he finished 0-for-4, striking out three times.

Kaupe, a Baldwin High School graduate and this year's Maui Interscholastic League Division I player of the year, was selected in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft earlier this month.
