PICNIC FOR POKI
Thirteen-year-old Kaulike Pescaia will be the featured performer when Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions present "Picnic for Poki" at 11 a.m. at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku. Pescaia will be joined under the Monkeypod tree by Sheldon Brown on ukulele, Joe Bommarito on bass, and Gerry V. on steel guitar. Picnic for Poki honors the late Allen "Braddah Poki" Pokipala. Attendees may bring a lawn chair or mat, their lunch and a friend.

JAZZ & BLUES FEST
"Transpacific Bluesman" Colin John will perform at 5:30 p.m. at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali. The Shiro Mori Trio with special guest Henry Allen will take center stage at Whalers Village Fine Shops and Restaurants from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Admission to both performances is free.

PAIA FOURTH FRIDAY
"Summer of Love" is the theme for Paia's Fourth Friday event from 6 to 9 p.m. Local boutiques will be featured in a fashion show beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Johnny B's, the new restaurant at 65 Hana Hwy. Fashionistas, and a few Maui County firefighters, will strut their stuff in groovy fashions. Paia town entertainment will include the sounds of Simmer Street from 6 to 8 p.m. at Paia Bay Cafe and Sandwich Island Bass from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. outside Indigo. Participating merchants, art galleries and restaurants will offer specials.
JAZZ & BLUES FEST
The Jazz & Blues Festival continues from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Whalers Village in Kaanapali with performances by the Shiro Mori Trio, Colin John, Gene Argel Trio (including Paul Marchetti on drums and, from the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, Lenny Castillanos on bass), Henry Allen, author Gwyn Gorg reading from her book "I Am the Blues." Admission is free.

KI HO'ALU GUITAR FESTIVAL
Enjoy an all-star lineup of Hawaii's best slack key guitar musicians from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's Pavilion/Amphitheater. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free to this laid-back, local-style event. Popular musicians and recording artists who are scheduled to perform includes: Brother Noland, George Kahumoku, Dennis Kamakahi, Nathan Aweau, Maunalua featuring Bobby Moderow, Stephen Inglis, Kawika Kahiapo, George Kuo, Hi'ikua featuring Kamuela Kimokeo, Paul Tokogoka, LT Smooth, Keale, Ola Hou featuring Kevin & Ikaika Brown, and Makana. Island food and crafts will be available for purchase.

World famous jazz vocalist Sacha Boutros and saxophonist Rob Scheps headline the Jazz and Blues Fest lineup begining at 6:30 p.m. in Wailuku's Historic Iao Theater. Additional artists include Colin John, Vince Esquire, the Shiro Mori Trio, Gwyn Gorg, and the Mana'o Radio Blues Band. Admission is $10. From 9 p.m. to midnight, the action will take place at Jazz Club Maui in the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali with SLAM! featuring David Choy and Kelly Covington. $15 cover charge, dining and drink packages available. JAZZ & BLUES FEST
Son'z at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa is the place to be at 6 p.m. for a free performance by Tropical Swing with a Touch of Cool Jazz featuring Henry Allen and award-winning songstress Ginai. Patrons can dine and dance or just enjoy the waterfalls and swans as they listen to island-style smooth jazz played by some of the Islands' best.
SURUTI CHIBARANA
Experience the powerful drumbeats of taiko and the colorful dances of Okinawa beginning at 2 p.m. at Baldwin High School Auditorium. The recital, "Suruti Chibarana-Striving Together," highlights Maui Okinawa Taiko's 15th and Jimpu Kai Maui's 10th anniversaries. The recital is a rare opportunity to see regal dances of the Ryukyu Kingdom, original drum dances, an excerpt of kumiwudui (classical dance-drama), exciting taiko numbers and a five foot diameter odaiko.
