HONOLULU - The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Wailuku as of the week ending Thursday was $4.83 cents a gallon, down 3 cents a gallon from the previous week, AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch reported Thursday. That price is 5 cents a gallon less than last month but still 43 cents higher than the same time last year.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded statewide was $4.37 a gallon, 18 cents lower than last week. The price is still 32 cents a gallon more than a year ago.
Honolulu's average price dropped to $4.21 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is 8 cents less than a week ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.43 a gallon, 8 cents less than last week.
AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch is a weekly snapshot of gas prices. Prices were derived from fleet vehicle credit card transactions at more than 100,000 stations around the country. Prices shown are combined averages of the last card swipe of the previous day.
