Free summer reading program offered

WAILUKU - Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Wailuku will hold a free public summer reading program for children ages 5 to 11 on Saturdays beginning June 30 through July 21.

The program will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the church grounds. It includes books to take home, weekly prizes and mentoring. There will also be a child-friendly snack.

Children will attend all four sessions. Register as soon as possible by calling Mary Lou Mellinger at 205-1860 or contact the church office at office@goodshepherdmaui.org.

Provide the child's name and age so that age appropriate books will be available.

Summer Keiki Program begins Sunday

WAILUKU - Unity Church of Maui's Summer Keiki Program runs on Sundays beginning this Sunday to Aug. 26.

The program will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and will include music and other activities that focus on making new friends and the creative process.

Each child will have a specific role to play and be encouraged to cooperate with children in different age groups, to understand that they can create what they want in all areas of their lives, to gain insight into the steps of the creative process and how to use them, to make a commitment and to have fun while creating.

Two-day marriage seminar to be held

KAHULUI - The marriage seminar "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage" will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on June 29 and 30.

The seminar is based on the popular DVD teachings of Mark Gungor and will be presented by guest speaker Chaplain Pete Mueller and his wife, Adele, from Oahu.

Friday's session runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday's from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a lunch break.

There is no cost to attend but a free will offering will be accepted to cover the travel expenses of the presenters.
