For the past eight years, The Maui News has been proud to sponsor the Ki Ho'alu Slack Key Guitar Festival at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. It is our way to say thank you to all our readers for your support and patronage.
Today the 21st edition of the festival takes place at the MACC's Yokouchi Pavilion/A&B Amphitheater. The event begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m.
Among the scheduled performers are L. T. Smooth, George Kahumoku Jr., Brother Noland, Dennis Kamakahi, Kawika Kahiapo, George Kuo, L.T. Smooth, Hi'ikua featuring Kamuela Kimokeo, Paul Togioka, Maunalua featuring Bobby Moderow, Ola Hou featuring Kevin and Ikaika Brown, Nathan Aweau, Walter Mix (Keale) and Stephen Inglis.
As always, there also will be various foods for sale and crafts and guitar exhibits.
Take the whole family out today for a wonderful free concert featuring the magical music of our slack key stars.
The public is welcome, admission is free and the setting is perfect for this harmonious, laid-back afternoon of unbeatable entertainment.
