WAILUKU --- Fire gutted a vacant two-story residence Saturday afternoon near the Wailuku Gym.
No injuries were reported in the blaze that burned the interior of the unoccupied, four-bedroom home at 2055 Pakahi St., according to Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Wailuku, Kahului and Kihei firefighters responded to the fire, reported at 2:59 p.m., Mainaga said. The fire was under control at 3:58 p.m. and extinguished at 4:50 p.m., he said.
Damage to the 1,400-square-foot structure was estimated at $280,000 to the structure and $30,000 to its contents, he said.
The fire's cause remained under investigation Saturday evening.
