A salvage crew works to remove the rigging of the Baidarka on Saturday in Lahaina as the 35-foot sailboat from Victoria, Canada, is prepared for an attempt to pull it off the reef. The boat beached squarely in the middle of where Lahaina surf schools conduct their lessons. The vessel broke from its location at the Lahaina Yacht Club mooring either the night of June 17 or Monday morning and went aground on the reef. Parker Marine was hired by the boat’s owner to salvage it.
