Merle "Buddy" Kahikina Akuna, 82, died on June 9, 2012 at St. Francis Hospice West.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thur., June 28 at Diamond Head Mortuary; with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be 1 p.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. The family requests aloha attire.
Mr. Akuna was born on November 30, 1929 in Wailuku, Maui.
He was a retired test desk supervisor for Hawaiian Telephone Company.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Hee Akuna; daughters, Merlyn K. Akuna, Mele K. Akuna and Melisa K. Tobias; brothers, Edward and Danton Akuna; sisters, Beverly Brown and Laurel Akuna.
"Buddy" as he was also known as, served in the U. S. Army as a Specialist 3 and in the U. S. Marine Corp as a Corporal.
