Mall program seeking young entrepreneurs

June 27, 2012
The Maui News

KAHULUI - Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is inviting young entrepreneurs to participate in the "Kids Inc." program.

Participants may create something from scratch, offer a service or resell a product purchased from a wholesaler. Business plans must be submitted via Queen Ka'ahumanu Center's Facebook page by July 4.

The shopping center's Facebook fans will vote for their favorite business ideas from July 5 to 11. Based on the highest number of votes, 10 winners will be invited to a one-day "business showcase" July 28, where they can sell their products or services to customers and keep their earnings.

Winning Kids Inc. participants will have the opportunity to set up shop at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center to learn about business, make money and, most of all, have fun, according to a release.

The program is open to ages 6 to 12, and participants must have a parent or guardian submit their entry. Businesses are expected to have minimal parental involvement.
