Maui Soo Bahk Do, a traditional Korean martial arts academy, recently celebrated the promotion of the following students.
In the kid's class, Malia-Rose Gates was promoted to the rank of ninth k-gup and Dakota Welch, Kaumaka Roback, Maila Zbiciak and Jonah Zbiciak were promoted to eighth k-gup.
In the adult class, Aaron Rohozinski was promoted to eighth gup (orange belt) and Gina Kim was promoted to second gup (red belt).

Certified instructor Pat McCarthy attended the eight-day Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa in Ramona, Calif., in November. The Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa is an eight-day intensive testing and training to evaluate candidates for master ranks promotion.
McCarthy passed and was promoted to the fourth degree in May. He is the first Maui student to achieve master ranks, according to Maui Soo Bahk Do.
