Changing designation does change density

June 28, 2012
The Maui News

Deputy Planning Director Michele Chouteau McLean was quoted in a June 20 article saying that changing the designation on land from agricultural to rural growth boundaries "doesn't change the density (automatically)."

I hate to tell her this but, yes, it does. The density may not go up tomorrow, next week, next month or next year, but it is going up as soon as builders get their permits, build houses and sell them.

In response to a June 20 letter concerning the eligibility of Barack Obama to be president: There is no constitutional definition of "natural born," but it is assumed that anyone who is born in the U.S. and under its jurisdiction (among other things) is entitled to citizenship. I can't find any reference to having to have both parents be U.S. citizens.
