July 1, 2012
The Maui News

OLINDA - A report of a female hiker lost near the top of Olinda Road launched the Maui Fire Department's Air One helicopter and brought firefighters from Makawao and Kahului on Saturday afternoon, Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said.

But when firefighters arrived on the scene of the 4:11 p.m. alarm, they were advised that the hiker had found her way back to the trail, he said.

Fire crews waited at the Waihou trailhead until the Maui woman walked up from the trail about three minutes later, he said. She reported being disoriented for a short time before finding the trail again.

She was uninjured.
