OMAHA, Neb. - Randall Tom placed 32nd overall and Renny Richmond 58th in the 100-meter butterfly preliminaries on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials.
The top 16 finishers advanced to the semifinals.
Tom, a Seabury Hall graduate, had a time of 54.24 seconds, finishing fourth in his heat. Richmond, a senior-to-be at Seabury, finished in 54.66, placing ninth in his seeded heat.

Chase Bloch, a Maui resident as a youth who now lives in California, was 42nd overall in 54.41, placing third in his heat.
Michael Phelps had the fastest prelim time, 51.80, and then the best time in the semifinals, 51.35. Eight swimmers advanced from the semifinals to today's final.
