WAIPIO, Oahu - Two Maui Pony baseball teams won state titles at Central Oahu Regional Park on Monday.

The Maui Pony 13 All-Stars completed a 4-0 run through the state tournament with a 12-4 victory over Windward, Oahu, in the state final behind the complete-game pitching of Kawena Alo-Kaonohi.

Maui outscored its opponents 32-12 in the tournament and now advance to the Western Regional in Fullerton, Calif., beginning July 20.

Alo-Kaonohi pitched his second complete game in the event and was one of nine players on the roster of 13 who played for the state champion Central East Maui Little League team last season.

"They are all pretty excited - most of these kids have been to the regional last year for the Little League, so they are pumped to go again," coach Kevin Galicinao said. "We had a bunch of guys hitting good."

The Maui Mustang 9-10 All-Stars also won their tournament at CORP with a 4-0 run through the tournament, capped Monday with a 5-0 win over Mililani Blue. Maui outscored four opponents 45-17, including Mililani Blue 19-0 over the last two games.

Kaipo Haole won two games on the mound.

The Maui Mustangs are coached by Craig Okita, Dean Yamashita and Chad Llego and advance to the Western Regional tournament in Los Alamitos, Calif., beginning July 26.
