WAILUKU - The last day for new voters to register to vote in the Aug. 11 primary election is July 12, the state Office of Elections said.
Completed voter registration forms need to be turned in to the Maui County Clerk by 4:30 p.m. or postmarked by that day.
Wikiwiki voter registration forms are available at U.S. post offices, public libraries, in the yellow pages of phone books, at most state agency offices and at the Maui County Clerk's office on the seventh floor of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku. Forms also are available on the Office of Elections website at www.hawaii.gov/elections.
Voters must be U.S. citizens, residents of Hawaii and at least 18 years old.
Current registered voters who have changed their names or moved since the last election should re-register before the voter registration deadline.
Residents who have voted before should have received a yellow card in the mail. The card is a voter's notice of voter registration and address confirmation. It provides voters with information on their polling location assignment, election dates and other information.
The cards were mailed to voters in the last two weeks of June. If information on the card is incorrect, voters need to re-register by completing a voter registration affidavit. The affidavit is available online at the Office of Elections website or at the county clerk's office.
