I guess everyone has an opinion on this: There are jobs out there but not the kind of money people are looking for. They want high-paying jobs right now, no working their way up, just high pay.
Have you noticed the homeless in front of Walmart holding signs or anywhere on Maui with cellphones in hand. They are asking for food or work.
Where do you draw the line? Some of the homeless are not even from Maui. Didn't you notice they are walking with suitcases in hand to the Wailuku area. One person right out told me that he just got off the plane and was given instructions to go to the unemployment office here on Maui, register, go get food stamps and then go to the homeless shelter. Other states are sending them here with a one-way ticket just to get rid of them.
How about the ones with food assistance trading it for drugs? Do you show compassion?
Where does compassion start and where do you draw the line?
