Maui students earn academic honors at Mainland colleges

The following students with ties to Maui County have earned academic honors at colleges and universities for the spring 2012 semester. Unless otherwise noted, the grade-point averages are on a 4.0 scale.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Michelle Soga of Kahului, Alexander Collias of Kihei and Chastity Savella of Makawao have been named to Pacific University's Dean's List. To qualify, students must achieve a 3.7 or greater grade-point average and complete 12 or more graded hours.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Alexa Foley of Haiku has been named to the Dean's List at Gonzaga University. To qualify, students must achieve a 3.5 to 3.69 grade-point average. Alecia Tumpap of Kahului, Samantha Beerman of Makawao, Summer Wilkinson of Makawao, Melody Sagario of Makawao, and Nicole Rosen of Kahului have been named to the President's List at Gonzaga University. To qualify, students must achieve a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average.

LEWISTON, Maine - Joanna P. Harran of Pukalani has been named to Bates College's Dean's List. To qualify, students must achieve a 3.68 or greater grade point average.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Jennifer Waia'u of Wailuku has been named to Warner Pacific College's Dean's List. To qualify, students must be enrolled fulltime and achieve a 3.5 or greater grade-point average.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Six students with Maui ties were named to Washington State University's president's honor roll for the 2011 spring semester, including Stella Mae Acob Ong and Tyler Takaumi Satoshige of Kahului; Patrick K. Tabon of Kihei; Kelsey Lucia Fortey and Celine L. Munoz of Lahaina; and Melanie Robinol Ragamat of Paia.

To be eligible for the honor roll, students must be enrolled in a minimum of nine graded hours in a single term and earn a grade-point average of 3.75, or earn a 3.5 cumulative GPA based on 15 hours of graded work.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Michael Rummel of Kihei has been named to the Dean's List at University of San Francisco. To qualify, a student must achieve a 3.75 or greater grade-point average.
