Recent graduates recognized

The following students with ties to Maui County have earned degrees at colleges and universities:

Three students with Maui ties graduated from Linfield College on May 27.

Ryan Kahae Kele of Kahului earned a Bachelor of Science degree in general science; Kiana Chiemi Ka'ulawena Nip of Lahaina earned a Bachelor of Arts in international business; and Matthew Brown of Wailuku earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.

Kainalu Severson of Makawao and Dayne Schultz of Kahului graduated from the University of San Diego on May 27.

Severson earned a bachelor's degree in accountancy, and Schultz earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.

Galen Christopher Morakis of Kahului graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on May 12.

Morakis earned a doctorate in pharmacy.

Frances E. Duberstein of Kihei received her master's degree in public affairs from Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs, with an emphasis on nonprofit and foundation management and public policy.

Duberstein graduated in 2007 from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in anthropology. Her parents are Jeanne and Michael Duberstein of Kihei.

Autumn Gapsis of Kula graduated from Eckerd College on May 20.
