Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Ministry has begun notifying inmates to request the application from Chaplain Pua Hashimoto at Maui Community Correctional Center.
The communities, churches, businesses, individuals and resources of Maui County will participate by donating Christmas gifts for the amount of children their group desires to bless. Gift charts are given to each applicant. Parents and legal guardians of children ages 17 and younger will ask for gifts from this chart for their child.
This rewarding and effective ministry transforms and heals families through expressions of love in giving a child a gift. Each parent has until Aug. 10 to apply.
My husband and I have coordinated Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree since 1985.
After the application deadline in August, MCCC's new residents - parents who enter the facility in October and November - may sign up for the local Maui Angel Tree list. (We do not want to miss any child this Christmas; but no promises are made.)
The contributors will also be meeting these children when delivering gifts.
