'Safe' Maui drivers recognized for skills
Two Maui drivers with Roberts Hawaii were recently awarded for their skills at a Hawaii Transportation Association competition for commercial passenger vehicle drivers in Honolulu.
Kristine Kim was named School Bus Champion, and Derek Luna was named Passenger Vehicle Inspection Champion.
This year's competition for passenger vehicle drivers was a new addition to the Hawaii Transportation Association's annual Hawaii Truck Championship.
"Fourteen of our drivers signed up for the challenge, including some who flew in from Maui, Kauai and the Big Island to compete. It really demonstrates their personal commitment to being safe and skillful drivers," Jennifer Hill, safety officer for Roberts Hawaii, said in a statement.
Roberts drivers took home six of seven trophies. A Kauai driver with Polynesian Adventure Tours won the seventh award.
