With reference to the April 11 and April 30 editorials regarding electrical useage: Maybe I am your neighbor who makes you look bad.
Why? Because Maui Electric Co., in its efficiency report, uses only one-half of my electric bill. I have a single family home - two senior citizens - with two electric meters. One is the original and we added one when we installed air conditioning and a pool and spa.
Maui Electric shows my electrical useage for May to be 468 kilowatt-hours when it was actually 1,166 KWH - worse than any of all neighbors, which was reported to be 1,163 KWH.
I called them and asked them to change the information when we received the first statement in March. We are still getting wonderful reports for one-half of our useage.
This is one program which appears to be a waste of time and money. It should be corrected or discontinued.
Incidentally, my electric useage was much worse in June - 1.586 KWH.
