I read the July 1 editorial about "Robo-Caller" and blocked numbers.
Part of my service with Hawaiian Telcom includes call block. I can block calls from callers who do not transmit their caller ID. I can also block calls from specific numbers that continue to pester me. Keeps my house phone quiet.
I don't generally give out my cellphone number, as I don't want these or other business calls on my cellphone while I'm out and about enjoying life or working.
Since I work on the service side of a counter, I often get interrupted in the middle of a transaction by a cellphone call. I just walk away and do something else if the person decides to answer it - they had my attention once and decided to give theirs to someone else, so I don't feel this is rude at all.
I do get the occasional phishing text and a very few calls from unknown numbers. More often than not, the unknown number is just a misdial.
It's amazing how inconsiderate people have gotten of others with the technological leaps we've made.
