It's easy to see why so many crosses dot the edges of Maui roads. I have been visiting Maui yearly for more than 20 years, and Maui locals are going faster than ever - especially with the new, wider Piilani Highway where speeds of 65-75 miles per hour are common and tailgating is the norm.
As a retired cop, I wish I could just hand out the tickets. Where is everyone going so fast? It's an island. Slow down, live longer.
