Rodeo recognizes riders, ropers, racers

First, second and third photos: Sale Sproat hangs on en route to winning the Makawao Rodeo bull-riding title Sunday at Oskie Rice Arena, double winner Liloa Akoi competes in wahine steer undecorating and Kaile Jacobson and Brad Apo pose after repeating as all-around champions. Sproat had a score of 155 points, while Akoi had a time of 7.42 seconds in steer undecorating and 37.33 in wahine barrel racing. Apo also won the Benji Rollins Saddle, and he and Jacobson each took first place in two events. They paired to win mixed dally team roping in 16.84 seconds, Apo and Rory Souza won double mugging in 22.98 and Jacobson won the wahine breakaway title in 11.63. Souza was also a double winner, taking the steer-wrestling title in 16.83. The other winners in timed events were R.J. Masada (po'o wai u, 55.29), Daniel Jacintho and Barry Ewing (dally team roping, 18.26), Kanoa Dickson (calf roping, 29.82), Wendell and Henry Wong (century team roping, 25.25), Keanu Kamai (keiki barrel racing, 42.01) and Levi Higa (junior barrel racing, 37.75). In the other scored events, Eli Higa won sheep riding (84 points), and Isaiah Asing won junior bull riding (68).
