WAILUKU - Iao Intermediate School will hold its student registration Monday and Tuesday. Parking on the school campus and nearby streets is limited; carpooling is encouraged.
The first day of school for incoming 6th-graders is July 30, and July 31 for all other students.
Registration will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday for 8th-graders; from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday for 7th-graders; and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday for 6th-graders. All registrations will be held in the school dining center. Attendees are asked to bring a black or blue pen to complete forms during registration.
To enroll new or transfer students, report to the school's main office to submit and sign all legal documents (release forms, transcript, report card and health record) and provide proof of residency. For more information, call 984-5610.
Parent or guardian meetings on waivers for the school dress code will be held at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday; and 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The meetings will be in room J-204, next to the main office. Parents or legal guardians of students currently on uniform waiver need not attend.
Automatic T-Shirt Printing Co. will sell school uniform T-shirts. Youth sizes are $7.50, adult sizes small to extra large are $8, with a $1 charge for each additional size up to 6X. Long-sleeve shirts in youth sizes are $15; adult sizes small to extra large are $16, with a $1 charge for each additional size up to 4X. Hoodie youth and adult sizes small to extra large are $29, with a $2 charge for each additional size up to 3X. Hooded sweatshirts with a zipper in youth and adult sizes small to extra large are $35, with a $2 charge for each additional size up to 3X. Cash payments are required.
Physical education uniform T-shirts range in price from $7 to $8, and $5 for shorts.
Registration fees must be paid in cash. Other fees include $10 student government dues for a planner, lanyard and ID picture; $5 class dues; $3 postage for progress reports and 4th-quarter report card; $25 for 8th-grade basic practical arts class; and $15 (optional) for a memory book. Those who are unable to attend during the above days may pay for fees at the school office after July 18.
Registration fees for students taking band class are as follows: 6th-graders must pay a $5 band fee for first semester students; 7th-graders must pay $20, which includes a band T-shirt and the band fee; 8th-graders must pay $25, which includes an aloha shirt and the band fee. Students can also buy additional Iao School Band T-shirts for $10. Only cash will be accepted, and a receipt will be given.
During registration, students may also make pre-payments for meals (breakfast, wiki and lunch) and bus transportation.
Pre-sale dinner tickets for open houses will be available for $3 cash per person during registration and during the first week of school. Dinner tickets are limited, and there are no takeouts. Open houses for 6th-graders will be Aug. 14; 7th-graders Aug. 15; and 8th-graders Aug. 21.
Make-up times for school ID picture taking are from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. July 23 to 27 in the school front office. IDs will be available on the first school day.
